In this seminar, poet and translator Pedro Serrano will explore the tension between making a
translated poem sing in the receiving culture and keeping to its highly contextualized meaning in
the source. This tension is exacerbated when the poem in question is highly personal and when it
affects the poet-translator as an intimate expression of an individual experience.
