Visiting Fellowship

Visiting Fellowship Program

The Visiting Fellowship program enables collaborations between colleagues from beyond Indiana University and tenured or tenure-track faculty at IUB through short-term visits to the IUB campus. Projects may lead to scholarly publications, grant applications, performances, or exhibits.

Fellows will be expected to offer one public presentation. The length of a visiting fellowship is normally one to two weeks; the stipend is $3,000 for the first week (expenses are not otherwise covered). A longer visit can be negotiated, but the stipend will not increase.

Logistical arrangements for Fellows are the responsibility of the IUB faculty sponsors, but the IAS staff can assist with arranging library privileges and housing.

Nominations for Visiting Fellows may come from an individual IUB faculty member or from a group of faculty members working jointly on a research or creative project. Fellowships from the IAS may be combined with other forms of support and sponsors are encouraged to seek such support.

Visiting Fellow nominations are accepted on a rolling basis, but space and funds are limited in any given year. To accommodate the necessary travel and financial arrangements, we recommend that nominations be made at least five months in advance.

NOTE: Sponsors and supporters must agree to be present during the fellow’s entire visit.

The nomination dossier for Visiting Fellows should include the following documents and be submitted as one PDF file.
