Upcoming Promotion Workshops
- Planning a Path to Promotion: Establishing Impact through Research and Creative Activity
Progress after tenure in research or creative activity can include expansion toward greater depth and/or breadth, and even work in entirely new directions. Making the most of one’s time in the rank of associate professor involves engagement in scholarship and creative activity that builds one’s reputation and makes a positive impact on the university and the professional community. This workshop explores questions related to identifying the next project (or set of projects), creating a multi-year plan to move toward promotion and documenting impact along that trajectory.

- After the Pause, Where Do We Go From Here?
We have only begun to understand the initial impacts of the pandemic on academic careers. The nature of pandemic disruption is still evolving and is likely to continue well into the future. Nonetheless, academic life is often focused on long-term planning and multi-year goals for progress and advancement. In our last workshop in this series, we take a moment to step back and consider the next steps in these uncertain times. Our panel includes esteemed RTWG alumni, who will reflect on their pre-pandemic plans and their future goals in this context. In convening this panel, we recognize there is no single path forward and we seek to generate strategies that allow us to work collectively as we move forward.
