Position Description
The IU Institute for Advanced Study seeks to hire a Graduate Assistant to aid with the programming, administrative, public relations, and social media profile of the interdisciplinary work of the Institute. The GA would, first and foremost, assist the Director, Associate Director, and Coordinator in raising the profile of IU IAS before its various constituencies, academic and public-facing, local, national, and international. This will involve a variety of tasks, including but not limited to setting up events, carrying out publicity, and, crucially, developing new ways of engaging diverse audiences. Duties will include:
Media, Publicity, Administration
• Develop, in consultation with the Director and Associate Director, a plan for creating an IU IAS podcast series or other media format, featuring short interviews, conversations, or the like with researchers, collaborative teams, or fellows supported by the Institute.
• Work, potentially in collaboration with other units on campus, to edit and package these media products for eventual inclusion on various media channels.
• Manage Institute social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter), sharing presentations and events, etc.
• Help with logistics and arrangements for The Bloomington Symposia, an annual multi-disciplinary symposium based on changing topics of broad interest and mutual concern
• Assist the Coordinator in carrying out IU IAS programming
